Stylish Leather Handbags

Lots of people think of leather as exclusively a winter material. Well, when it comes to coats I agree with that. However, the handbag designers (name brand and non-name brand)  have come out with some very soft, light leather handbags that are perfect for spring and summer. There are also some very lightweight, brightly colored imitation leather handbags that scream of summer. So, the next time you are handbag shopping to update your spring and summer handbags, don’t rule out leather before taking a look at some of the newer fashions.

If you’re like me, switching handbags is a major undertaking. I must admit I throw everything into my handbags so they usually end up more like suitcases within a few months. Lately I have been reading and responding to a lot of blogs about the newest and greatest designer handbags. What ABSOLUTELY blows my mind is the price tags on these bags!!! Now, I am not naive and I realize that there are many women out there (THE REAL HOUSEWIVES ON BRAVO) that will pay anything for a label, but THIS IS RIDICULOUS!!! I just honestly cannot see how ANY handbag in the world can be worth $3,000 or more. I mean, seriously. Sometimes I just want to shake these women and say “Do you not realize that it’s just a handbag?????” Do they realize how many starving kids could be fed with that much money or how much St. Jude’s could do with that? I realize I am probably stepping on some toes right now but I think this world has gone just a little crazy, OK, downright insane! When did a little label become what defined a person??  Please forgive my ranting but for those of us who  have a mortgage each month sometimes the materialism of this world just gets to be a bit too much. Anyone out there agree with me?

Apparently the newest thing to do these days for award winning actresses is to put your face to an advertising campaign.  Another Hollywood sweetheart (not to mention one of Brad’s girls), Gwyneth Paltrow is the new face of Coach.  With photographer Peter Lindbergh on site atop a Manhattan rooftop, the ads are sure to be a stunning success, given the subject he was shooting.  While the ads will not be released in the US, I say go for it, girl.  If you have the beauty and the opportunity and believe in the product, WHY NOT?

It is official and the shooting sessions have begun.  Angelina Jolie was spotted in Cambodia with Annie Leibovitz shooting the first of a series of print ads for Louis Vuitton’s Core Values campaign.  Angelina reportedly received $10 million for the campaign, earning her a spot in the records book as the most highly paid person in the world for an advertising campaign.  Some speculate that the location, the birthplace of her son Maddox, was chosen by Angelina herself.  There is no doubt that anything she puts her name to will only increase the popularity of the item, so I say smart move on the part of Marc Jacobs.

I am so glad that I can say that my family came through the DEVASTATING Ringgold tornado with absolutely no damage.  Not only that, but my husband’s family as well.  The actual tornado touched down about 1/4 mile from our house and we definitely felt the effects of it (the door to the closet we had taken shelter in was violently shaking back and forth) but God definitely heard all the prayers going up for us that night and it is a miracle that the tornado didn’t hit our house.  If you’ve seen the footage on TV of the worst part of the damage, that is SO close to where we live.  I had started this blog right after the tornado but was still a little too torn up about it to go ahead with it but now I am just putting it out there.  We never know what life is going to hand us and we are so thankful for every little thing these days.  It really puts life in perspective.  Please continue to pray for all of the families who lost everything they had.  I know so many who lost all they had but the clothes on their backs.

Lions and tigers and bears, OH MY! No, this isn’t a blog about prologues to songs in The Wizard of OZ, but about the newest and hottest fashion trend of everything animal in 2011. From Milan to New York, the runways this season were full of animal prints and, in some cases, actual animals themselves. Be they birds, mammals, or reptiles, practically no animal can be seen only in the jungle these days. All one needs to do is flip through the pages of the latest Vogue magazine and you’ll see for yourself, it’s a jungle out there.  What is your favorite animal print?  Any that you think should be seen ONLY on the animals they belong to?
